The Southeast boaters’ platform is calling for a meeting with the Tourism Authority. The reason is because boaters have been waiting six months for their “loss of business compensation”. This, after the sinking of the MV Wakashio off Pointe-d’Esny.
At a press conference, their spokesperson, Tony Apollon, issued an ultimatum to the authorities. That of this allowance to all those concerned before August 6. Otherwise, he says, he will move on to another stage.
Asked for a reaction, Lindsay Morvan affirms that the procedures for the payment of this allowance have already been initiated. The director of the Tourism Authority maintains that boaters have not submitted certain required documents, hence the delay.
