The prefect of the department announces the lifting of traffic restrictions in the face of the improvement in air quality as of Wednesday morning.
Air quality will start to improve from Wednesday in the Grand Est. Atmo, the organization responsible for assessing air quality, underlines “the arrival of air masses favorable to the atmospheric dispersion of ozone”.
This development, linked to the end of the heat wave episode and the arrival of thunderstorms, leads to the lifting of the restrictions put in place by the prefect of Bas-Rhin concerning road traffic.
“The traffic restriction measures in the Bas-Rhin department will therefore be lifted from Wednesday June 20, 2022 at 6 a.m.,” the prefecture announced in a press release.
These provisions entered into force on Tuesday, with in particular the lowering of the speed on the motorways by 20 km/h for all vehicles, with the exception of coaches and heavy goods vehicles of more than 3.5 tonnes on the sections where the speed is limited to 130 km/h.
