The departments of Île-de-France were put on orange heat wave alert by Météo-France this Saturday. 38°C are expected in Paris in the afternoon.
Strong heat obliging, the quality of the air is deteriorating in Île-de-France. Airparif, the institute in charge of observing air quality in the region, warns of a “risk of exceeding the ozone information threshold” this Saturday.
“This Saturday will be marked by the highest temperatures expected on this heat wave. As on this weekend, the strong sunshine will promote the formation of ozone by chemical reaction from pollutants present in the atmosphere, in particular oxides of ‘ ‘Nitrogen and VOCs’, explains Airparif in its press release.
Concentrations between 180 and 210µg/m3 are expected in the region. The information threshold (which is 180) should be exceeded for at least an hour, specifies the organization.

Friday, the police headquarters decided to activate differentiated traffic on the A86, from this Saturday, between 5:30 a.m. and midnight, “and this, until the end of the pollution episode”.
Ile-de-France Mobilities has for its part announced that an “anti-pollution” package at €3.80 is available for unlimited travel this Saturday throughout the region.
