Support for the most vulnerable: Business Mauritius reiterates its call for targeting

If Business Mauritius welcomes the range of measures aimed at supporting the population in the face of rising prices, the employers’ federation recommends, however, in the medium term, a targeted approach to support the most vulnerable.

In a more detailed analysis of the budgetary measures published this Wednesday, June 15, Business Mauritius also reiterates its pre-budgetary proposal to introduce a food stamp system.

Overall, Business Mauritius believes that the budget responds to the current priorities of the business community, particularly with regard to the energy sector, real estate and maritime connectivity.

“The process of economic recovery remains ongoing despite global instability,” said the federation. That said, Business Mauritius is of the opinion that labor market and pension system reforms are still necessary.
