Pollution in Lyon. The most polluting cars banned, the speed lowered

An episode of pollution exacerbated by the heat wave in the Lyon basin and Nord-Isère led the Rhône prefecture to take measures to combat this phenomenon in order to preserve the health of the inhabitants of Lyon, Villeurbanne and Caluire-et-Cuire.

From this Friday, June 17 at 5 p.m., the agricultural, industrial and construction sectors are affected by various bans. It becomes forbidden for individuals to use solid fuel barbecues and burn waste because of this episode of ozone pollution.

Traffic regulated from this Saturday

From this Saturday, in Lyon, Villeurbanne and Caluire-et-Cuire, vehicles without Crit’Air stickers or with a class greater than 3 could no longer drive in Lyon.

A temporary speed reduction of 20 km/h is activated on all roads in the Rhône where the authorized speed limit is greater than or equal to 90 km/h. Axes normally limited to 80km/h are now limited to 70km/h.

Anyone who travels on these axes without respecting these measures, except on the northern ring road, the M7 and M6, the tunnel under Fourvière and various routes, risks a 4th class fine.
