Golfech. Visits to the EDF power plant for business opportunities

On the initiative of the economic development commission for the major fairing of the EDF nuclear power plant in Golfech, five visits to the facilities have taken place over the past few months. Why ? For who ? In what but? Explanation.

The large fairing, an opportunity for the territory. Since 2020, the EDF Golfech nuclear power plant has entered a busy industrial era with the construction of its large fairing (GK). Planned until 2025, the GK aims, through improvement works, to reinforce the safety of the two electricity production units of Golfech to allow the sustainability of their operation.

Three years already, significant work has been carried out by local players (State services, CCI, Pôle Emploi, etc.) and EDF to enable companies in the territory to benefit from the market opportunities offered by the increase in activities. related to the large fairing of the power plant. In two years, 125 million euros of orders have been placed with companies in the region for a target set by EDF at 300 million euros over the period 2020-2025.

Fifty-five visitors representing 33 local businesses. The five visits to the EDF nuclear power plant organized since the beginning of the year aimed to enable representatives of local businesses to respond to the market opportunities offered by nuclear power and the Golfech power plant to discover these facilities up close. . 33 companies took part, mainly VSEs in the industry and construction-BTP sector deployed in Tarn-et-Garonne, Lot-et-Garonne, Gers and Haute-Garonne. For each of the visits, a representative of the management of the plant and a member of the Grand Fairing Economic Development Commission were present to answer all questions. The participants unanimously appreciated these moments.

For Catherine Maire, adviser to CCI 82 and organizer, “these visits are the best way to realize the industrial reality and to project yourself when you have local skills adapted to make known”.
